ADDRESS MANAGEMENT ISSUES
Address Improvement Program (AIP)
AIP will be tabled for status review at the JTC February meeting. NAMMU will set up a National Information Workshop in March to review AIP. This project is an enormous undertaking that will ultimately see the creation of a single national database containing complete, accurate information for every address in Canada.
The AIP Project will replace the existing six main systems, as well as 74 systems containing at least some address data, and enhance what Canada Post is able to utilize by adding geographic information. According to PERFORMANCE (Nov/Dec 2002), AIP is to be implemented in phases under the Business Transformation umbrella starting in 2003 and completed by the end of 2004.
Quebec Municipalities: Mergers & Amalgamations
The Joint CPC-NAMMU task force meets February 14 in Quebec City. Considerable progress on defining issues and processes has taken place but some mailers are reinforcing that the progress is not fast enough to meet their needs. The NAMMU Board met with Guy Prefontaine (CAA Quebec) and Richard St-Laurent (Canada Post) in Quebec City February 7 and lent support to the urgency and importance of this project.
National mailers outside of Quebec are impacted as well and a formal information channel will be established to keep software vendors and mailers “up to speed”. In the meantime, national mailers are invited to attend the February 14 meeting in Quebec City by registering with the President at: rowe@thekmrgroup.com or Guy Prefontaine at gprefontaine@caa-quebec.qc.ca If you cannot attend the session, updates from the meeting can be obtained from the President at: rowe@thekmrgroup.com
